From The Pastor’s Heart – September 6, 2017

We have two important and exciting events coming up that I would like to encourage all of you to be a part of.

The first is World Harvest Festival weekend on September 16-17.  On Saturday evening Pochi Seifu from Ethiopia will be coming to speak to us.  She will be sharing her testimony and about her work with children’s homes in Ethiopia.  Pochi is a sister to Pastor Yonas Seifu (one of our Faith Promise missionaries). Ben and Oriana made a connection with her on their recent trip to Ethiopia and it is a fantastic opportunity to have her come share with us.  This will be a great chance learn more about the Seifu’s ministry.  Let’s take this opportunity to show our support by having a nice crowd come out.  At 6:00 pm Saturday evening we will have a time to meet and greet Pochi with coffee and dessert and service will follow at 7:00 pm.

On Sunday morning, September 17th, we will have a joint service at Cornerstone Church of Augusta at 10:00 am. That gives you an extra half hour to make the drive to CCA. Pastor Glenn Kurtz will be bringing the message. The theme this year is “Called, Set, Go!” This will be an exciting time to be together with the rest of our Cornerstone family and I hope you will plan to attend.  World Harvest Festival 2017 T-shirts will be available on Sunday for $10.

The second event is Faith Promise Sunday morning, September 24th. If you are not familiar with Faith Promise I encourage you to read the insert in the bulletin that explains it in detail.  In short, Faith Promise is a method of missionary giving by individuals and families through the ministry of our local church. The Faith Promise Plan is a “promise by faith” that I, personally, will trust the Lord to provide a certain amount for me to give to my church for the work of missions around the world. Please be in prayer that God will reveal the amount He wants to provide through you.  I encourage everyone to participate at some level, even our children.  This is a great way to help build their faith and teach them about giving. We are including promise cards in the bulletin each Sunday this month.  If you are not able to be with us on the 24th you can turn in your card ahead of time so that we can count your promise in the total on Sunday morning. We will combine our promise with the rest of the network churches and that will be the missions giving budget for the year.  Last year our congregation alone promised $50,000 and we are on track to make that goal.  Praise the Lord!

See you on Sunday!

Pastor Joe
