From The Pastor’s Heart – June 13, 2018
From the Pastor’s Heart,
I have been spending time in the Psalms recently and I have been struck with how King David faced a constant stream of enemies that came against him. More importantly is the way he handled that burden. David cast his burdens on the Lord. Even though his enemies tried to trap him, David said, “You are my God!” Listen, O Lord, to my cries for mercy! O Sovereign Lord, the strong one who rescued me, you protected me on the day of battle.” (Psalm 140:6-7). He basically said, “Lord, it’s on you.”
Are you burdened today? Do you have something troubling you? Do you have anxiety over a situation you are facing?
David also said, “Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” (Psalm 55:22) Are you doing this? Are you acting like you believe that He will take care of you? Or do you do everything you can possibly think of to solve your problem and only when it seems insurmountable, do you seek the Lord?
When we truly commit our concerns to the Lord, we can avoid a lot of heartache and time wasted worrying. Whatever your burden may be today, David has given a great example. Cast it on the Lord and He will take care of you and keep you from falling.
I am looking forward to returning to our study in Romans this week. We will begin looking at Chapter 10. Also, I hope you will join us for a potluck supper and a movie Sunday evening. It is open to the public so you are welcome to bring a friend. See you on Sunday!
Have a blessed week!
