Meet Our Staff
Pastor Joe Slagell
Pastor Joe Slagell and his wife Liz have been leading the Cornerstone Church of Harrisonburg congregation since October of 2016. Joe has lived most of his life in the Harrisonburg area and graduated from college in 1992 with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Journalism. After working in banking for 16 years, Joe was called into ministry and became the associate/youth pastor at CCH in 2014. They have two sons, Cameron and Luke. Joe and Liz have been a part of Cornerstone since 1997.
Liz Slagell
Liz Slagell, wife of Pastor Joe, began serving as a Children’s Ministry Director in August of 2017. She graduated from college with a Liberal Arts degree and a Certification in Elementary Education. She and Pastor Joe have two sons, Cameron and Luke.
Lynette Layman
Lynette keeps the church schedule, manages details such as prayer requests, newsletters, bulletin announcements, and plays a key role in keeping this website up-to-date.
Michele Morgan
Michele has led worship at Cornerstone for many years. She also teaches music and worship arts at Cornerstone Christian School and serves as the Worship Coach for churches and worship leaders in the HeartLink Network.
Jenny Andes
Jenny helps out in the office part-time by maintaining the church’s financial records. She also sings on the worship team and is a loving wife to Steve, and the mother of two beautiful daughters.

Don Magalis
Don is our faithful maintenance person. He is responsible for setting up and tearing down each Sunday, as well as helping with cleaning around the church. He also plays drums for the worship team, and offers up the greatest jokes.
Phil & Jeanne Basinger
Phil Basinger and his wife Jeanne have been leading the transformation ministry since 2017. Phil graduated from Cornerstone Bible College with a degree in Pastoral Ministries with an emphasis in counseling. After completing the pastoral training, he and Jeanne felt called to lead the Transformational Ministries at CCH. Phil and Jeanne live on their farm with their three children: Naomi, Michael, and Caleb. They have been a part of Cornerstone since 1998.
